Codes slow guide

bright – reveals the whole map. Useful to check for any items on map before animals „eat” them. Available in multiplayer to both players.
dark – darkens the map. The game doesn’t remember what have you had already explored, so you are left with only the immediate area around your units and buildings.
Also available in multiplayer.
items – spawns a random item from the shop.
legendary items – spawns a „legendary” item. It can be any non-tradeable item. So, a Celestial Sword, Sun Shield or evenβ¦ Leather Shoes apply. Skull Stick is unavailable.
food – 50k food is added to your account. Works even without a food-storage.
beasts – all neutrals attack your position. Works even without a base.
no beasts – neutrals do not respawn. Sometimes the game hiccups and spawns an animal, but other than that it’s pretty permanent, so take care.
matchless – gives max stats to selected units. Works on your units only. Early scenario spell restrictions still apply, but sometimes Resurrection gets bugged and given to Elf.
units – unlocks all units (and all their levels), structures and items. Curiously it hides the 3rd level of Warlock, if normally available. Doesn’t unlock spells in early missions.
end – congratulations, you win the game. Roll outro. It is the same for every tribe, but each one gets a mention.
next – you win the map. In scenarios with an objective to obtain something (like food or a legendary item) it may not work properly.
tall – β¦somehow it has the same effect as „next”.
enemy – boosts the enemy stats by 20 points, can be typed many times. Watch out, AI is hard-coded to attack when they have enough strength. On hard difficulty they can attack immediately, sometimes soon after typing this code. Doesn’t affect neutral critters.

Codes, the slowest guide

All my tests were done in the most common, 1.05E version of the game.
There is a newer edition, called Jurassic War Plus in the Korean sources, (1.08H version that was added for free in the 2002 release of the Ranker expansion to Primitive Wars) which should be more refinedβ¦ but has mouse glitches, startup crashes (you need to delete setup_.dat every time before start), screenshot problems, has no English version, lacks multiplayer altogether and only the better music (in wave format) is a definitive „plus”.
My first encounter with Jurassic War was an English demo version, the V1.03 with three tribes, three missions each. Only Korean cheat codes work in it, curiously.
Then there is a pre-alpha demo version, called Jurassic Primitive War, that was „released” in 1995. It feels like a distant memory from another dimension. Music is more jumpy, colors are more raw, buildings are indestructible and magic is for everyone. No cheats afaik. A food exploit exists though.

How to enter Korean cheats with a qwerty keyboard?
Shift + Space changes keyboard to Hangul and back.
If you don’t know Korean, and still want to use Korean codes, type the bottom line of gibberish letters. Case is important, and don’t forget the occasional exclamation mark.
I used this Korean keyboard for transliteration and google for translation.
So this is for the guys joking about the unimaginative and primitive codes like „food” and „next” and comparing them to HOMM and Warcraft funnies. The Korean version had whole sentences with exclamation marks to spice things up

Scouring with the Cheat Engine, search for your exact amount of food in the bank. Change the last two digits to these and you get all the food of all the tribes:
